Congratulations to your son - and to you, Dekera! The beginning of a wonderful exploration.
There was so much rich language in this essay, phrases and concepts that just resonated, others that sang. Your littles are so fortunate to have you as a parent. My favorite was this paragraph:
"We sometimes get so focused on the “Capital F” future that we neglect the small ways we build the “lowercase f” future with today’s wisdoms, anxieties, and pragmatism. Today’s small steps seed our futures and later serve us in ways that we don’t see possibility in now. And (perhaps with the multi-verse movie in mind) there are parallel futures we create and paths we don’t take, that are just outside of our reach. All it takes is a dimension glitch to snap us there."
And the photo/description of the chocolate cake and ginger tea .... sublime!
Loved this piece. The summer madness started already in our house today. “Eating dark chocolate cake and drinking ginger tea and coffee with Cam was as much an act of kinetic energy transference as it was a pleasure.” What a wonderful thing! Thank you for the research and resources on Juneteenth.
